What Fruits do You have in Your Basket? ~ A New Devotional by Courtney R.
One thing that has been in my daily prayers lately has been the Fruits of the Spirit
Do I have the right fruits in my basket? Here's something I've learned over the years: If we don't posess the Fruit of Spirit, we posess the Works of the Flesh. It's as simple as that.
14 "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."
15 "But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another."
16 "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."
17 "For the flesh lusteth after the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would."
18 "But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law."
19 "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,"
20 "Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 "Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."
22 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,"
23 "Meekness, temperance against such there is no law."
24 "And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with affections and lusts."
25 "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."
26 "Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provking one another, envying one another,"
The Fruits of the Spirit is something every Christian should strive to have working in their lives. It's not just something you learn about in Children's Church and then forget about it because you think it's childish. It's something that should be practiced in our lives daily.
When we have the Fruit of the Spirit working in our lives, we're better prepared for the attacks of the enemy. If you'll notice, there are 17 works of the flesh and 9 Fruits of the Spirit to fight against the works of the flesh. We must apply all of these to our lives to become the Christan God wans us to be, and not only that, but when we have all the Fruits of Spirit working in our lives, there will be no room for the Works of the Flesh. (Believe it or not, the Works of the Flesh is an attack of the enemy.) Some Fruit of the Spirit might be easier to apply to our lives than the others. We might be able to easily show love and peace towards someone, where it might be hard for us to show meekness and joy. But I assure you, with daily praying and reading the Word with the intention of wanting ALL the Fruits of the Spirit daily working in our lives, we'll see God doing the work almost instantly! "...ye have not, because ye ask not." God wants all of us to have the fruits of the Sprit working in our lives! It's His will!
So let me ask you this question. What Fruits do You have in Your Basket? Hopefully not rotten fruit.
God bless everyone who reads this devotion.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
We must delight/obey God's laws. They are the stepping stones that we must take to stay true to our Lord. If we just slip a little bit from the stone, disobey the law just a bit, we can lose it all, and fall into the river- into the sin. We want to obey God because we love Him. We want to serve Him. If we slip, and want to come back to the Lord, God will open His arms, and save us by grace again, as long as we repent of the sins. We as Christians should also love to obey God's laws. To delight in them. In His law doth he meditate day and night. We need to think on the Lord, meditate on His word. Read our Bible's, and pray to Him every day. So remember to delight in the law of the Lord, and meditate on it, day and night! Sorry it's so short girls. Hopefully the next one will come soon.
Psalms 1:1Our new devotional subject will be on Psalms 1. This one will be on verse 1.
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the council of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
We must remember always who we are. We are Christian girls. Followers of God. We want to follow the Lord completely, without any reservations. This verse almost reminds me of girls who are suffering peer pressure. When someone wants you to do something their way, even though in your heart you know that it’s wrong. That God would not be pleased. Some Christian girls will do this because they yearn to be liked, accepted, wanted. It’s a very big temptation. I know what it’s like to want to be accepted. I’m not the best person to ask on the subject, but still, always do the right thing. What is better, a few fake friends while you’re here, or real happiness? Besides, there should always be at least one person who will be your true friend. Those people are like gems. Now, on with it!
We can’t walk in the council of the ungodly. When an ungodly person gives you advice it will almost always be something wrong. Something you should not follow. You should not walk in the council of the ungodly, they will almost always lead you down the wrong path. Choose instead to follow the godly people around you. Your pastor, godly women of the church, and your parents if they are Christians. There will be another devotional later on parents, for now, back to Psalms 1.
We must not stand in the way of sinners. We must not do as sinners do. We must keep ourselves pure. Don’t stand in the way of sinners, the devil wants you to go the wrong way, but we must trick him, and go the right way.
Last of all for verse 1 is, don’t sit in the seat of the scornful. Don’t scorn people. Don’t use bitter words against them. Words can be a poison to the hearts of people. They can hurt others in a terrible terrible way. Don’t be scornful, and don’t say things you wouldn’t normally say just because you’re mad. You’ll regret it later. I hope this devotional has helped you in some way. Keep shining for Jesus!
Virtuous Women or Girls as The Case May Be
Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. - Proverbs 31:10
Virtue is a wonderful quality to be found in women. As the verse says, her price is far above rubies. That is very high isn't it? Well, we know rubies are precious stones, and worth a great amount of money. Imagine how much a virtuous woman is worth. More then you can imagine, that's what. In fact, I believe a virtuous woman is more valuable then all the money on earth. She is priceless. All christian girls should have a longing to be virtuous, and ask the Lord to help them with this. If you read the Bible, you may find several virtuous women. There is Rebekah, Abigail, Ruth, and Esther to name a few. I will tell their stories at one point and post them on the site. For now, let us all strive to become virtuous women. Also, read Proverbs 31 for more information.
Virtue- definition- Virtue is the moral excellence and purity of spirit that radiates from my life as I obey God's word.
